The Development Director is responsible for building a culture of philanthropy at Twin Rivers Council (TRC).
This position creates, implements, and monitors an annual fund-raising plan that involves corporate, foundation and individual/major donors.
The position also leads a team that collaborates with the Board of Directors, Scout Executive/CEO, program staff and Council-wide volunteer constituencies to achieve fundraising results.
Results are driven through Board members’ spheres of influence, Council business relationships and building expanded networks throughout the 13-county region the Council serves in New York’s Capital and Adirondack Regions.
The position reports to the Scout Executive/CEO.
*Responsibilities: * * Works closely with the Scout Executive/CEO to pursue a coordinated and strategic program of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of annual gift prospects and donors.
* Executes a series of annual fundraising events, individual donor asks, and grants/foundations submissions to successful completion.
* Document contacts and strategies through the prospect tracking module of Blackbaud CRM.
* Recruit, train, inspire, and staff volunteer committees of fundraising events.
* Provides staff support to the Board of Directors for all development-related items.
* Participates fully as a Council team member, attending full staff meetings, professional development activities, and other staff meetings as appropriate.
* Participates in Council events to cultivate relationships with donors, prospects, key volunteers, and all internal partners.
* Attends community networking opportunities to cultivate relationships with donors, prospects, and community partners.
* Adheres to the policies and procedures for accepting, recording, and acknowledging gifts.
* Pursues professional growth activities with the approval and support of the Scout Executive/CEO.
*A Qualified Candidate Will Have: * * A Bachelor’s degree.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills, negotiation skills, and the ability to deal with complex concepts.
* The ability to travel 30% of the time, including local and regional visits, work evenings, and occasional weekends.
* The willingness to accept and meet the Boy Scouts of America’s leadership and membership standards and subscribe to the Scout Oath and Law.
A Scouting background is helpful but not required.
*An Exceptionally Well Qualified Candidate Will Have:* * Five plus years of fundraising or comparable revenue-generation experience, including personal solicitation and proven success in goal achievement.
* Demonstrated experience in engaging volunteers in the development of meaningful and productive relationships with prospects and donors.
