*Van Driver* *Regional Food Bank of Northeastern NY, Latham, NY 12110* The Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York, a member of the Feeding America Network, is offering an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for fighting hunger and food insecurity for our neighbors in need.
We’re looking for a team member with excellent customer service skills and the enthusiasm to work together with our community partners and partner agencies to alleviate hunger, prevent food waste, and nourish the communities we serve.
The van driver is responsible for daily deliveries of the Food Bank’s Mobile Pantry, Senior Food Delivery, and Just in Time Delivery programs.
*Our ideal candidate:* - At least 18 years old and possess a high school or equivalency diploma.
- Must be able to perform physical work, with continuous bending, and lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Valid NYS driver’s license - Prior experience operating power equipment in a warehouse setting preferred.

The Food Bank of the Hudson Valley was founded in 1990 to expand and improve service to charitable agencies and donor partners in Orange, Ulster, Dutchess, Rockland, Sullivan, and Putnam counties.
Working in partnership with the food industry, the Food Bank collects large donations of unmarketable but wholesome food and distributes it to non-profit programs feeding our neighbors in need in 23 counties.
From the Canadian border to the New Jersey border, in urban, rural, and suburban communities, the Food Bank provided 50 million pounds of food and grocery items to nearly 1,000 partner agencies in 2021.

50/hour *Schedule*: 8-hour shift, Monday to Friday; employee may be required to work outside of regular business hours as necessary Job Description Job Title: Van Driver Supervisor: Emerging Programs Manager Supervisory Responsibilities: None Status: Full-time (40 hours) Non-Exempt Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age or older and possess a valid New York State driver’s license.
Prior experience operating power equipment in a warehouse setting is preferred.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain power equipment certification and possess a valid driver’s license.
Physical Requirements: This position will be exposed to extreme temperatures and/or weather conditions.
There will be extended periods of sitting, standing and/or bending, pulling, and reaching.
This position would normally have routine opportunities for the employee to be able to alter their physical position or change eye focus.
This position will require the safe use of power equipment and a valid NYS driver’s license.
Employees should have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
Position Summary: Responsible for daily deliveries of the Food Bank’s Mobile Pantry, Senior Food Delivery, and Just in Time Delivery programs.
Duties and Responsibilities: 1.
Load and deliver program orders as scheduled.
2.
Unload products and assist partner staff at sites.
3.
Drives and operates company vehicles in a safe manner and follows all traffic laws.
4.
Assists in the proper handling and storage of products.
5.
Assists with food distribution operations.
6.
Maintains van in good operating and physical condition – refuels, adds fluids, and cleans vehicles inside and out daily.
Reports vehicle issues or problems to the Transportation Director.
7.
Provides excellent customer service to agencies and outside contacts.
8.
Serve as backup to warehouse personnel as needed and time permits.
9.
Work with appropriate staff to identify and select appropriate products as necessary.
10.
Follows all safety standards and procedures.
11.
Works independently and collaboratively with other departments and employees in support of the mission of the Food Bank.
12.
Adheres to the Food Bank’s Employee Code of Conduct.
13.
Perform other duties as assigned.
