Three years of experience performing clerical, keyboarding, or
paraprofessional work in an office environment.
State Employees-
Reassignment: Current New York State Department of Health employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent service as a Program Aide, Grade 13 (formerly known as Administrative Aide, Grade 13, or Agency Program Aide, Grade 13).
Transfer Opportunity: New York State employee with one or more years of permanent or contingent-permanent service in title at Grade 11 or above, and eligible for transfer to Program Aide, Grade 13, under Section 70.
1 of the Civil Service Law.
Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will have strong verbal and written communication skills, good organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
They will be able to prioritize multiple assignments and have experience with Microsoft Office programs.
Duties DescriptionThe Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) is a federally funded public health nutrition program which provides nutritious foods to low-income adults who are at least 60 years of age.
The Program Aide (PA) will perform a variety of administrative duties in support of program operations.
Duties will include assisting with inventory management, creating and interpreting reports to monitor program activity, coordinating contractor meetings, and developing briefing reports.
The Program Aide will act as the program point person for contractor calls and emails, track program issues, and work with contractors to provide technical assistance.
Other general administrative duties include keeping program resources, forms, and job aids up to date.

Transfer candidates may be asked for their social security number to verify transfer eligibility.
Occasional travel, including to areas that may not be served by public transportation, may be required (10%).
Non-competitive appointment may be made under the NY HELPS program.
NY HELPS waives Department of Civil Service examination requirements for certain positions for a period of one year.
