*The LaSalle School is seeking a Tutor (Full-Time, 40/hours per week, non-exempt/hourly).
* *Our ideal candidate is* energetic Tutor with knowledge of and experience with educating and instructing youth with ESL and special education needs.
Strong computer skills: organizational and time management skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, efficient documentation and record keeping skills, able to work effectively and collaboratively within a highly diverse multidisciplinary team of service providers and referral agencies; knowledge of all relevant current, and emerging, regulatory requirements (e.
g.
, ORR, etc.
) *GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:* To provide educational services based on the child's level of development, education, and communication skills.
Tutor will structure curriculum primarily on the development of basic academic competencies and secondarily on English Language Training.
*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:* * Conduct educational assessments in order to determine the academic level of the UC and any needs the child may have.
* Work a minimum of 5 designated classes as assigned, one preparation period and one administrative period for assignment.
Participate in content-area department meetings and faculty meetings.
* Supervise or participate in non-instructional activities, such as, but not limited to after school tutoring, homeroom duty or morning supervision duty, meetings, Professional Development programs, and the Open House event.
* Prepare required paperwork; meeting timelines and producing highly professional reports Follow guidelines in the employee handbook and program manual.
* Develop and update knowledge and skills on an ongoing basis in ENL education and special education instruction.
* Plan appropriate daily lessons and classroom activities to meet the NYSED and ORR Standards and to accommodate each child's learning styles to meet their needs and assess their progress.
* Communicate information about student’s educational development to identified staff.
* Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
*EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:* Required: * Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.
* One plus year's related experience as an educate or instructor for youth with ESL and/or special education needs.
Preferred: * Master's Degree in Education or other related field.
* NYS Teacher Certification (Permanent/Professional) * Knowledge of NYS Common Core Curricula.
* Bilingual in English and Spanish or basic Knowledge of English and Spanish language and writing, ability to learn and become bilingual.
(Training will be provided).
* Case Management experience within the Child Welfare system.
